Blade Runner
website (Monday 24
April 2000 7.45 hrs NL-time)
Most of
you also like Ridley Scott's sf-movie Blade Runner. If you are looking
for a great website on this SF classic, go to Bladezone,
a great fansite out there. Be sure to check out the deleted scenes section
and to watch the behind the scenes-videos. I found myself going around
there for hours a couple of weeks ago.
8000 visitors
to AliensNL (Monday
24 April 2000 7.40 hrs NL-time)
Yes, yesterday
the 8000th visitor entered the AliensNL website. Funny to mention is that
visitor came from a Dutch domain and AliensNL is one of the few alien related
websites in the Netherlands. From the start in December 1998 the day of
record was 28 June 1999 with 237 visitors.
Mission
To Mars disappoint-end (Sunday
23 April 2000 12.05 hrs NL-time)
This week
I have seen the sf-movie Mission To Mars (Brian de Palma) in cinema. After
a enjoyable first 90% of the movie, the latter 10% was really bad. I could
not believe mister De Palma making such an awful Disney-like cheap ending
to a promising flic. The space and Mars scenes look good and still make
me like the first part. Below some new pictures of M2M (thanks go out to
the official movie site).

Aliens vs
Predator - Gold Edition available (Saturdag
15 April 2000 15.50 hrs NL-time)
Fox Interactive
and Rebellion have created an enhanced version of the 1999 computergame
Aliens vs Predator. The game is released this week in the US. I am sure
the rest of the world will follow in a couple of weeks. Current owners
of the original game can order an upgrade version. The game has enhanced
graphics (OpenGL), some new weapons and new levels, including a Nostromo
level. Down below two pictures from the new game version. Thanks to www.planetavp.com.

Blade Runner
new Special Edition on DVD (Sunday
23 January 2000 12.10 hrs NL-time)
Good news
for all fans of Blade Runner, the other great sf artwork of Ridley Scott
(Alien). Ridley told Cinescape that he will work on a new special edition
of Blade Runner for DVD, containing an extra 8 minutes of unseen footage
compared to the already existing special edition version already available
on video and DVD. The currently available DVD-version of the "old" special
edition version doesn't contain any real interesting extra features and
lacks the high quality in sound and visuals DVD can offer. Thanks go out
to DVDFile.com for the good news.
Down below a picture from the old special edition version, extracted from
a dream of Decker.

Alien3 pictures
of cutscenes (Sunday
16 January 2000 9.20 hrs NL-time)
Within
a couple of weeks AliensNL will show you a collection of pictures taken
from the cutscenes from Alien3. The quality won't be great but they are
still worth looking at. Remember, there hasn't been an official longer
version of Alien3, the cutscenes are extracted from the uncut workprint
version before is was finalized for theatrical mastering. Thanks to my
collegeau webmasters for their help ;-)
Mission
To Mars (Sunday 16
January 2000 9.15 hrs NL-time)
The official
site for the Brian de Palma sf-movie Mission To Mars at http://movies.go.com/m2m/
has been extended with some great pictures. Look also at the trailer you
can download, it gives you a nice impression of what will come (and what
will be a mystery until you will see it in the cinema!). Despite of the
Vangelis music in the trailer, the movie seems promissing.

Alien Legacy
DVD - secret feature (Saturday
8 January 2000 17.45 hrs NL-time)
In Europe
the Alien DVD movies still have to be released. They are expected around
March 2000. Somewhere on a DVD-forum on the Internet I found the following
information (about a secret on the Alien-DVD) I cannot check but hopefully
somebody else can:
"From the main menu highlight “Extra Features” and then press the left arrow key to highlight the left window. Press “Enter” and you will see the production credits for this DVD. Now highlight “Scene Selections” from the main menu and press the right arrow key to highlight the other window. If you press “Enter” now, you will see the flightplans of the Nostromo and extensive crew information. Finally, go to the “Extra Features” submenu and arrow down until you highlight the acid puddle at the bottom of the screen. If you press “Enter” now you will be able to see Kane’s transmission of the alien’s lifecycle. This exciting feature was uncovered by Brian Oreskov."
Alien5 (Saturday
8 January 2000 17.40 hrs NL-time)
Regarding
Alien5 I am somewhat confused. Sigourney Weaver has told during a recent
interview that as far as she knows, there haven't been any plans for a
fifth installment so far. But when it's up to her, she would like to play
another movie, taking the set to the original homeworld of the aliens.
Even when she's an older, grey-haired woman. To me, this means only that
she's interested and keeping the door open. Other (anonymous) sources on
the internet speak of plans in development (pre-production) for a fifth
movie.
Anyone
with concrete information can email me (pesie@worldonline.nl),
so AliensNL can spread the word!
Quake III
Arena (Saturday
8 January 2000 17.30 hrs NL-time)
In December
the new Quake game has been released: Quake III Arena. It's based on multiplayer
gaming, but with some great bots you can play against, you can enjoy yourself
also offline. The graphics are really great, especially the red fog, lightning
and complex map designs. Visit www.planetquake.com
to read and download all about it, before you buy the game. Down below
some pictures I made, to show you examples of the graphics (not of the
gameplay).

Happy Y2K
(Saturday
8 January 2000 17.25 hrs NL-time)
Ofcourse
I wish everybody a great Millennium, no real bugs made us start the year
Y2K, so hopefully that's a good sign.
ANNA ! (Saturday
8 January 2000 17.15 hrs NL-time)
It has
been silent on AliensNL. The good reason for that was the birth of Anna,
the daughter of my wife and I. She's born on 27th of November 1999. She's
all fit and well, beautiful and gives us many joyfull moments in our life.
Here is a picture made one day after Anna was born. She's got more
hair than her father sometimes has! ;-)

PlanetAvP,
AvsP Network (Sunday
7 November 1999 14.00 hrs NL-time)
The Aliens
versus Predator game is out now for some months. At the end of the year
a special Gamers Edition of the game will be released, with an enhanced
(internet)play, extra weapons and new levels, some of them based on the
movies. AvsP hasn't got the open interface as Quake and Unreal have.
After playing the game a couple of times, things feel to become repetitive.
Perhaps that's the reason for decreasing interest on the internet for the
game.
But things seem to change. The Planet AvP site has started recently at www.planetavp.com and looks really good. Enough news updates and lots of content. Also the AvsP Network will make a restart at short notice, read it on their newspage.
Webaward
(Sunday
7 November 1999 13.45 hrs NL-time)
Well, after
about 11 months and more than 5,000 visitors AliensNL received it's first
webaward. The verdict of the jury: "i've always liked your site, i think
it's ace in terms of layout, content and originality." The award can be
seen down below (the animated GIF). Many thanks go out to Peta. You can
visit her special Alien site via the Links section.
